Hopscotch Academy’s Program
At The Hopscotch Academy, our program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, a philosophy that views children as capable, curious, and active participants in their own learning journey. We combine this with a strong emphasis on S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) to prepare children for a future of creativity, problem-solving, and innovation.

We believe that the work of the child is play. Through hands-on exploration, open-ended materials, and child-led projects, children learn to ask questions, make discoveries, and think critically. Our educators observe and guide, ensuring that each child’s natural curiosity drives their learning.

Learning at Hopscotch often happens through collaborative, long-term projects. These projects allow children to investigate topics in depth, make connections across subjects, and develop problem-solving skills. Documentation of each project is displayed in the classroom, showing children that their ideas, questions, and contributions are valued.

Up to 30% of the day is spent outdoors, where children explore nature, conduct experiments, and develop social and physical skills in a natural setting. The outdoor classroom encourages resilience, independence, and a love of the environment.

Our program emphasizes empathy, kindness, and respect, core values that help children build meaningful relationships. Through group activities and guided play, children develop self-confidence, collaboration skills, and an understanding of how their actions impact others.

We believe education is most effective when schools and families work together. Parents are valued as partners in the learning process, and our teachers regularly share updates, documentation, and progress through the Brightwheel app.

With a blend of creativity, exploration, and academic readiness, our program ensures children are prepared not just for school, but for life. By nurturing both intellectual growth and social skills, we help children develop into confident, capable learners with a love of discovery.
Our Programs
At The Hopscotch Academy, we welcome children as young as 3 months through 2nd grade. Each program is carefully designed to support the unique developmental stage of your child, using a Reggio Emilia–inspired, play-based, and project-based approach that encourages autonomous learning and cultivates essential social skills.
Our classrooms are warm, inviting spaces that encourage exploration, creativity, and collaboration. With an emphasis on outdoor learning, children spend up to 30% of their time outside, developing curiosity, resilience, and a strong connection with nature.
Our infant program provides a nurturing, secure environment where babies can thrive. With individualized care, sensory play, and responsive interactions, we help your little one build a foundation of trust, comfort, and curiosity.
Toddlers are natural explorers, eager to test their independence. In the Rainforest Room, children engage in hands-on discovery, music, movement, and outdoor play. Our educators guide them through activities that encourage early social skills, self-expression, and problem-solving.
Our Marine Room sparks imagination and discovery for curious 2-year-olds. Through play-based activities, child-led exploration, and early projects, children build communication, early literacy, and numeracy skills while learning cooperation and empathy through friendships.
The Savannah Room supports preschoolers as they grow more independent and eager to learn. With engaging lessons, creative expression, and opportunities for teamwork, children strengthen problem-solving abilities, expand their language, and develop school readiness skills in a fun, supportive environment.
In Pre-K, children gain the confidence and readiness needed for a smooth transition into kindergarten. Our Tundra Room introduces S.T.E.A.M. concepts and Spanish, encourages creativity, and nurtures both independence and collaboration through a Reggio-inspired approach.
For our school-age learners, The Olive Branch provides a supportive space where curiosity and creativity continue to flourish. With enrichment opportunities, outdoor play, and project-based activities, children develop problem-solving skills, leadership, and resilience—all while building friendships that last.

Outdoor Classroom
30% of our learning happens outdoors in our natural classroom. From reading on blankets to sensory play in tuft trays and cooking in our outdoor kitchen, children explore, create, and learn in the fresh air every day.

At Hopscotch Academy, our program does more than prepare children for the next grade—it equips them with the skills, confidence, and curiosity to thrive in the world around them.
